The breeds you see above are not all of them but are few of the many. One of the most common breeds in America are American short haired and American long haired. But there are so many other breeds in America. Don't be startled if you have a cat with no tail. There are many breeds of cats that are born that way. Not only are there different breeds, there are different body types.
There are many interesting facts about different cat breeds. The Siamese cat originated in Siam, a Thailand country, and are one of the oldest known cat breeds. Some say they got their kinked tail from curling it around statues to guard and protect them many centuries ago. Siamese come in many different colors, but in the same design, dark nose, tail , ears, and paws. They are skinny long cats with long tails.
A show-quality Persia has an extremely long thick coat, short legs, a wide head with the ears set far apart, large eyes, and an extremely foreshortened muzzle. The breed was originally established with a short muzzle, but over time this feature has become extremely exaggerated, particularly in North America, and Persians with the more extreme brachycephalic head type are susceptible to a number of health problems caused by it.
The Manx cat is a cat born with out a tail or just a stub. These cats originated on the Isle Of Man, where they are usually found at. Manx cats also have different patterns and lengths of their pelts. Some have long hair and some have short. These cats also have great balance and are good at hunting large prey, even at a young age.
RagDoll Cats
Ragdoll cats are one of the largest breeds of cats. They can easily reach 15 to 20 lbs. with males weighing more than females. They are well known for their great temperament and get along well with kids. They seek out and love company. If you are looking for a lap-sitter, this is your cat! They come in four colors called color points; seal, chocolate, blue, and lilac. They also have three patterns; color point, mitted and bi-color. They have medium to long hair with large bushy tails. They do require frequent grooming to prevent hairballs. These cats are less likely to develop matting. Much like a Siamese, when these cats are born they are white and develop their color after about a week.
